CBSE: New guidelines and SOPs issued for practical exams for classes 10th and 12th, strict instructions for schools to follow..
CBSE: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued new guidelines and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for practical examinations, projects, and internal assessments for Class 10 and Class 12. Practical and internal assessments are conducted annually as per the Board's examination bylaws and scheme of studies, but several significant changes have been made this year to maintain uniformity in instructions and procedures.
CBSE has instructed schools to strictly follow all new SOPs and complete assessments within the stipulated timeframe. The Board has clarified that four examinations will be conducted this year, so time management will be crucial.
Schools must also ensure that the marks uploaded to the web portal are accurate, as no subsequent corrections will be accepted.
An additional feature has been added to the practical answer book.
CBSE has also announced that an additional feature has been added to the practical answer book, requiring both examiners (internal and external) to provide an undertaking that all data has been uploaded correctly.

CBSE has also released the dates for practical examinations, projects, and internal assessments for classes 10 and 12. Practical examinations for schools with regular sessions will be conducted between January 1, 2026, and February 14, 2026.
For schools located in winter-bound areas, these examinations will be conducted earlier. Practical examinations in these schools will be conducted from November 6, 2025 (Thursday) to December 6, 2025 (Saturday).
Regular Session Schools: January 1, 2026, to February 14, 2026
Winter-Bound Schools: November 6, 2025, to December 6, 2025
CBSE has directed all schools to schedule practical examinations in their respective institutions according to the above dates and complete the entire process within the stipulated timeframe.
Guidelines for Regular Students:
Practical/Project/Internal Assessment will be conducted only for those regular students whose names have been submitted by the school through LOC.
If a student's name is missing from the list, the school must immediately contact the Regional Office.
Schools will ensure that only the actual student is appearing for the examination.
Rules for Private Students:
Practical/Project/Internal marks for private candidates will be awarded as per CBSE's established policy and examination bye-laws.
If, for any reason, it becomes necessary to reschedule practicals, this process will also be in accordance with the Board's policy.
Schools have been instructed to clearly communicate the Board's complete policy to all private candidates.
