CBSE Makes Major Changes to Class 10 Board Exam Rules, Also Clarifies Stance on Re-evaluation
According to the new rules, the science question paper is divided into three sections: Section A for Biology, Section B for Chemistry, and Section C for Physics. Students must write the answer to each question in the corresponding section.
The CBSE has made a major change for the 2026 Class 10 board exams. The board has clearly stated that in the science and social science papers, every answer must be written in the section designated for that subject. If a student writes an answer in the wrong section, it will not be evaluated, and they will receive no marks. The CBSE says this will make it easier to evaluate the answer sheets and ensure that students' answers are neat and in the correct order.
Under the new rules, the science question paper is divided into three sections: Section A for Biology, Section B for Chemistry, and Section C for Physics. Students must write the answer to each question in the corresponding section. Similarly, social science is divided into four parts: History, Geography, Political Science, and Economics. If a student writes the answer to a question in the wrong section, it will be considered incorrect.
Board Also Clarifies Stance on Re-evaluation
The board has also clarified that such mistakes cannot be corrected during re-checking or re-evaluation of the answer sheets. This means that if an answer is written in the wrong place, the student will not be able to do anything about it. Therefore, children need to practice this new format from now on. For this reason, the CBSE has instructed schools to familiarize students with the new pattern through pre-board exams and regular practice.
Reason for the Decision
The CBSE says that this change will bring more discipline to students' answer writing, reduce errors, and allow all answer sheets to be evaluated uniformly. The board aims to ensure that children write their papers clearly and correctly in the examination without any confusion. In short, the new rule is simple: the answer must be written in the same section as the question; otherwise, points will be deducted.
