CBSE Introduces On-Screen Marking for Class 12 Board Exams 2026, Seeks Teacher Data from Schools

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced a major shift in its evaluation system for the Class 12 Board Exams 2026, introducing a digital assessment method known as On-Screen Marking (OSM). The initiative aims to accelerate the checking process, enhance accuracy, and improve transparency in result preparation. As part of the rollout, the board has instructed affiliated schools to submit details of teachers handling Classes 11 and 12.

According to the official notification, schools must update the required teacher data on the OASIS portal by February 13, 2026, before 4:00 PM. The board has warned that failure to comply may lead to strict action, including possible delays in result processing or further steps under CBSE’s examination and affiliation bylaws.

What Is On-Screen Marking (OSM)?

On-Screen Marking is a digital evaluation system where scanned copies of answer sheets are assessed online rather than physically. Evaluators log into a secure portal, view scanned scripts, and assign marks electronically.

CBSE Examination Controller Dr. Sanyam Bhardwaj stated that the move is part of the board’s ongoing efforts to modernize evaluation practices and ensure efficiency. However, the board clarified that Class 10 answer sheets will still be evaluated in physical mode in 2026, while OSM will be used only for Class 12 this year.

Schools Asked to Upload Teacher Details

To implement the new system smoothly, CBSE has directed all affiliated schools to update details of teachers who teach Classes 11 and 12. These educators will be eligible for evaluation duties under the OSM system.

The board emphasized that accurate data submission is essential to ensure timely evaluation and declaration of results. Any discrepancy or failure to upload information may be considered an attempt to obstruct the assessment process.

Training and Login Credentials for Evaluators

Before evaluation begins, selected teachers will receive mandatory training to familiarize them with the OSM platform. Each evaluator will be issued login credentials along with a one-time password (OTP), which will be sent to their registered email address and mobile number.

This training is intended to ensure that teachers can use the digital system effectively, minimizing technical errors and ensuring uniform marking standards.
