CBSE Community Radio: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is preparing to start a community radio station. This initiative aims to reach students, teachers, and parents directly and effectively. CBSE Community Radio will not only have lectures or notes, but will also have live and interactive programs in which people will be able to participate in real time.

This proposal has been given the green signal in the board's governing body meeting held a few days ago. According to CBSE, this step will not only strengthen education but will also be a platform for dialogue that will connect everyone.

What is the plan?

According to CBSE, an application will be made to get the license for a community radio. For this, meetings will be held with different experts and stakeholders in the next six months. After this, it will be decided what kind of programs will be broadcast on the radio and how the application for the license will be prepared. Financial planning is also being made for this project. According to a senior official, this initiative will become a new means of communication from the board. After getting the license, it will be decided what to include in the program.

This initiative will be different from 'Shiksha Vani'

CBSE runs a podcast platform called Shiksha Vani, where audio material related to the NCERT syllabus is available for students from classes 9th to 12th. So far, about 400 episodes have been uploaded to it. It is believed that this new community radio station will be different from Shiksha Vani. It will be live and interactive, that is, students, teachers, and parents will be able to connect directly.

Why is this step special for CBSE?

This initiative of CBSE can be important for students and teachers. It will also help in disseminating information in those areas where internet access is low. The radio platform can overcome the lack of information and increase participation in educational activities. This will be the first initiative by a national education board.

The power of community radio

Community radio is considered the third and most important medium of broadcasting in India. It is different from public and commercial radio. Its purpose is to reach the people of a particular area or community. The biggest specialty of these radio stations is that they broadcast programs in local languages and dialects, so that more and more people can connect with them. There are 540 licensed community radio stations in India, which are run by educational institutes, NGOs or registered societies.
