As per the details shared by the CBSE Board, the second phase of exams is scheduled to begin on May 15. A key point to note is that only those students who appeared for the first phase of examinations will be eligible to participate in the Phase 2 exams.
According to the datesheet issued by the Board, the examination for Mathematics (Standard/Basic) will be held on May 15. This exam will be conducted from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM. Following this, the English examination will be held on May 16.
When Do the Exams Begin?
According to the information released by the CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education), the Class 10 second board examination—specifically Phase 2—will commence on May 15, 2026. This examination serves as an additional opportunity for students who wish to improve their scores from their first board examination or who, for any reason, were unable to perform to their full potential previously. This entire examination phase will conclude on May 21, 2026, with exams for various subjects being conducted on their respective scheduled dates.
What Will Be the Exam Timings?
For most subjects, the examination will begin at 10:30 AM and continue until 1:30 PM; however, for certain specific subjects, the exam duration has been set from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Students are advised to review their datesheet carefully to ensure they arrive at their examination centers at the correct time corresponding to their specific subjects, thereby avoiding any potential inconvenience. Second Board Examination: Complete Schedule
1. May 15, 2026 – The Mathematics examination will be held on the first day. This includes both the Standard and Basic papers.
2. May 16, 2026 – The English examination will take place on this day. This covers both English Communicative and English Language & Literature.
3. May 18, 2026 – On the third day, students will appear for the Science examination.
4. May 19, 2026 – Examinations for various languages will be conducted on this day. These include Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Gujarati, and other regional languages.
5. May 20, 2026 – Examinations for various skill-based and optional subjects will be held on this day. These include Sanskrit, IT (Information Technology), Artificial Intelligence, Painting, Home Science, and other subjects.
6. May 21, 2026 – On the final day, the Social Science examination will be held, marking the conclusion of the Phase 2 examinations.
Which students are eligible to appear for the Second Board Examination?
The CBSE Second Board Examination 2026 is designed for students who appeared for the first phase of examinations and now wish to improve their performance. Primarily, this includes students seeking to improve their marks; additionally, students who received a 'Compartment' in any subject during the first phase—or those who already fall under the Compartment category—are also eligible to appear for this examination. However, students who did not appear for the examinations in three or more subjects during the first phase will not be eligible for this examination.
