CBSE 10th Result 2026: Students Who Fail Can Retake Board Exams in May
If a student fails the examination after the results are declared, they will be allowed to retake the board exams. The Phase 2 examinations are scheduled to be conducted in May.
Retaking Exams to Improve Scores
In addition to those who failed, students wishing to improve their marks will also be eligible to participate in the board exams again. However, for improvement, they will be permitted to retake exams in a maximum of three subjects only.
Previous Scores Will Prevail if Marks Decrease in Phase 2 Exams
Students should be assured that they can appear for the second phase of the board examinations without any apprehension. If a student retakes an exam in a specific subject during the second phase and secures lower marks than before, the marks obtained in the first examination will be considered valid. Consequently, there is no need to worry about securing lower marks. The final passing certificate will be issued by the CBSE only after the results for both phases of the examination have been declared.
How to Check the Results
For the information of students and their parents, the CBSE Class 10 results can be accessed through various channels. Once the results are declared, students can check their outcomes and access digital copies of their mark sheets via the official CBSE website (cbse.gov.in), the DigiLocker app and portal (results.digilocker.gov.in), the UMANG app, or via SMS.
Minimum 33% Marks Mandatory to Pass.
To pass the board examinations, students are required to secure a minimum of 33 percent marks individually in each subject. For example, if students secure less than 33 marks out of the prescribed maximum of 100 in any subject, they will be considered to have failed. However, if they do fail, they will be eligible to appear for the second-phase examination.
