CBSE: CBSE Implements Alternative Assessment System for Class 12 in West Asia; Here is How the Results Will Be Prepared..
CBSE: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has decided to implement an alternative assessment system for Class 12 students in certain countries across West Asia. This arrangement has been introduced in light of the difficulties encountered in conducting examinations in these regions, with the aim of ensuring that students' results are released on time.
For Which Countries Does This System Apply?
This new system will apply to students studying in countries such as Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE.
How Will the Results Be Prepared?
CBSE has categorized students into different groups based on the number of examinations they have appeared for.
For students who have appeared for examinations in all subjects, the results will be prepared in the standard manner, based on their scores in the Board examinations.
For students who were unable to appear for certain papers, a school-based assessment method will be adopted.
The School-Based Assessment Methodology
For such students, marks obtained in school-conducted tests—such as quarterly, half-yearly, and pre-board examinations—will be aggregated.
For subjects where the theory component carries 70 or 80 marks, the highest score obtained across these three examinations will be included in the final result.
For subjects where the theory component carries 60, 50, or 30 marks, only the marks obtained in the final pre-board examination will be considered. If a student did not appear for the final pre-board examination, the marks from the preceding pre-board examination will be utilized.
Marks for practical examinations and internal assessments will be incorporated into the final result in the same manner as in previous years.
Role and Responsibility of Schools
Schools will play a pivotal role in this entire process. Schools are required to accurately compile all internal assessments, practical examination scores, and other academic records of the students. CBSE has issued directives to schools to execute this process with complete transparency and utmost care.
Important Advice for Students
Students and parents are advised to remain in constant contact with their respective schools and to keep a close watch on all updates pertaining to the assessment process and the results. This initiative by CBSE aims to ensure that, under no circumstances, the students' academic year is adversely affected, and that they receive their results promptly.
