CBSE Board 2026: Deadline to Obtain Scanned Copies of Answer Sheets Extended Again; Apply by 12:00 AM on May 25
Providing significant relief to CBSE Class 12 Board students, the deadline to obtain scanned copies of answer sheets has been extended once again. Students can now apply online at cbse.gov.in until 12:00 AM on May 25, 2026.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has offered major relief to students who appeared for the Class 12 Board Examinations in 2026. The Board has once again extended the final date for obtaining scanned copies of evaluated answer sheets, pushing the deadline to 12:00 AM on May 25, 2026. This decision was taken following persistent complaints regarding the online portal and payment gateway. CBSE had initially set May 22 as the final date for applications; however, students subsequently began facing difficulties with the website and the payment system. As complaints mounted, the Board decided to keep the application facility open—first extending it to May 23, then to May 24, and now until 12:00 AM on May 25.
Many students and parents reported that the portal was crashing repeatedly while they were attempting to apply for scanned copies. In some instances, payments were debited from students’ accounts, yet their applications remained incomplete. It was for this reason that CBSE was compelled to extend the deadline.
Re-evaluation Process to Begin Soon
CBSE has clarified that the dates for the re-evaluation and answer sheet verification processes will be announced separately, following the release of the scanned copies. The Board has advised students to ensure they submit their applications within the stipulated timeframe.
Education Minister Seeks Comprehensive Report
Taking serious cognizance of the technical glitches, Dharmendra Pradhan, the Education Minister, has sought a detailed report from CBSE. He has demanded an explanation regarding issues such as server outages, failed payment transactions, and other operational difficulties. The Ministry of Education has stated that a team of experts from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur will examine the portal and the re-evaluation mechanism to ensure that students do not face any further inconvenience in the future.
Government Banks to Also Provide Assistance
To strengthen CBSE’s payment system, State Bank of India, Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank, and Indian Bank have also been integrated. These banks will assist in enhancing the portal and the payment infrastructure.
