CBSE 12th Result 2026: Following the release of the CBSE Class 12 results for 2026, the primary topic of discussion this time around centers on the performance of the various regions. As is the case every year, some regions delivered spectacular results that took everyone by surprise, while the performance of certain major cities and states fell short of expectations. A notable highlight was that the regions of South India once again claimed the top spots, whereas several major regions in North India lagged behind.

Which Region Ranked Number 1 Nationwide?
In the CBSE Class 12 results for 2026, the Thiruvananthapuram region delivered the most outstanding performance. A total pass percentage of 95.62% was recorded here—the highest across the entire country. For several consecutive years, Kerala and the regions of South India have consistently demonstrated exceptional performance in academics and board examinations. This year, too, Thiruvananthapuram successfully maintained its lead. Chennai and Bengaluru secured the second and third positions, respectively. The Chennai region took the second spot, with 93.84% of its students passing the examination. Meanwhile, the Bengaluru region ranked third, recording a pass percentage of 93.19%. These statistics clearly demonstrate that students from South India have once again delivered a stellar performance in the board examinations.

Vijayawada and Delhi West Also Excelled
The results for the Vijayawada region were also quite impressive, with 92.77% of its students achieving success. The Delhi West region also delivered an excellent performance, securing a pass percentage of 92.34%. This is being hailed as the strongest performance among the major regions of North India. The Delhi East region was not far behind, with 91.73% of its students passing the examination. Speaking specifically of Delhi, the performance of both regions within the capital city was quite strong this year. Delhi West recorded a pass percentage of 92.34%, while 91.73% of students in Delhi East successfully cleared the examination. These figures clearly indicate that schools in Delhi have yielded better results this time around, and the capital city has successfully secured a place among the country's top-performing regions.

How Did Gurugram Perform?

The Gurugram region—considered a major educational hub in Haryana—recorded a pass percentage of 88.45%. While this figure is generally considered commendable, Gurugram appeared to lag slightly behind when compared to Delhi and several regions in South India. Nevertheless, this is still regarded as a strong performance, hovering close to the national average.

**Lucknow Region Falls Short of Expectations**

The performance of Uttar Pradesh's Lucknow region was not particularly impressive this time around. A total pass percentage of 82.21% was recorded here. Given that Lucknow is a major educational center, a better performance was anticipated; however, the results saw this region ranking significantly lower on the list of top performers.

**Prayagraj and Patna Show Weakest Performance**

This time, the performance of the Prayagraj and Patna regions was a matter of greatest concern. The Prayagraj region ranked at the very bottom nationwide, with only 72.43% of students managing to pass. Meanwhile, the Patna region recorded a pass percentage of 74.45%. The results from both these regions are considered the weakest at the national level.

**How Did Other Major Regions Perform?**

The Ahmedabad region recorded a pass percentage of 90.60%, while 87.92% of students were successful in Ludhiana.

The Pune region posted a result of 87.32%, and Ajmer stood at 86.78%. In Panchkula, 85.73% of students passed; in Ranchi, 85.01%; and in Guwahati, 83.41%. The Bhubaneswar region recorded a result of 81.71%, and Dehradun stood at 81.42%. In Raipur, 80.88% of students were successful; in Bhopal, 79.43%; and in Noida, 79.02%.

**Why Did South India Lead Once Again?**

As is the case every year, regions in South India once again topped the charts. According to education experts, there are several reasons behind this trend. Factors such as consistent academic instruction in schools, a strong foundation in basic education, effective monitoring, and a high level of student discipline are considered the primary reasons for South India's success. Conversely, in many North Indian regions, students face immense pressure from coaching classes and competitive examinations—a burden that ultimately manifests in their Board examination results.
