CBSE 12th Re-evaluation 2026: The Central Board of Secondary Education recently provided significant relief to students by extending the deadline to obtain scanned copies of their answer books. This deadline expires today.
CBSE 12th Re-evaluation 2026: If you are a student who appeared for the CBSE Class 12 Board Examinations in 2026 and are dissatisfied with your results or the marks awarded, a crucial update has emerged for you. Today marks the final deadline to apply for CBSE re-evaluation. The Central Board of Secondary Education recently offered substantial relief to students by extending the last date to obtain scanned copies of their answer books. Students can now apply for scanned copies of their answer books until today—May 24, 2026.
Over the past several days, thousands of students faced difficulties in submitting their applications due to heavy traffic and technical glitches on the CBSE website. At times, the website failed to load, while at other times, discrepancies related to fee payments were reported. In light of these difficulties faced by students, the Board decided to grant an additional day’s extension. This decision brings relief to students who wish to review the evaluation of their answer sheets or who feel that their marks fell short of their expectations. Once they receive the scanned copies, students can carefully scrutinize their answer books and, if deemed necessary, proceed to apply for re-evaluation or verification.
Why was the application deadline extended?
In an official notification, CBSE stated that the sudden surge in traffic on the website placed excessive pressure on the servers. Furthermore, technical issues also arose due to attempts at unauthorized interference. Consequently, many students were unable to submit their applications within the stipulated time frame. Taking these difficulties into consideration, the Board extended the final deadline for applications from May 23 to May 24, 2026.
Until When Can You Apply?
According to a new notice issued by the CBSE, students can now apply to obtain scanned copies of their answer books until May 24, 2026. This is considered the final opportunity for those students who have not yet been able to submit their applications.
What is the Additional Time Allotted for Re-evaluation?
The Board has clarified that students who successfully receive their scanned copies will be granted an additional two days to apply for the subsequent stages—namely, verification and re-evaluation. The benefit of this provision is that students will be able to carefully review their answer sheets to identify where marks were deducted and which specific questions require re-examination.
What is the CBSE Schedule?
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released a schedule for students who appeared for the Class 12 Board Examinations in 2026. According to this schedule, students may apply to obtain scanned copies of their answer books until May 24, 2026. Subsequently, the processes of verification and re-evaluation will commence on May 25, 2026. Students who believe there has been an error in the tabulation of their marks, or who feel their answer sheets warrant a re-examination, may apply for re-evaluation until May 29, 2026. The Board has advised students to complete all requisite procedures within the stipulated deadlines to avoid facing any difficulties or complications at a later stage.
What Issues Did Students Face?
Many students lodged complaints stating that the fee displayed on the website was fluctuating frequently. According to some students, the fee would sometimes appear as ₹1, at other times as ₹69, and in certain instances, it was displayed as high as ₹8,000 per subject. Furthermore, some students complained about receiving scanned copies that were blurred or illegible. Additionally, the website frequently failed to allow users to log in, and issues regarding failed payment transactions were also reported.
