CBSE 12th Re-evaluation 2026: CBSE has released a new update. The Board has clearly stated that students whose accounts were debited for excess amounts will have that money refunded to them.
CBSE 12th Re-evaluation 2026: Following the announcement of the CBSE Class 12 Board Examination 2026 results, thousands of students are currently participating in the re-checking and re-evaluation processes regarding their marks. Amidst this, many students faced difficulties while attempting to apply for scanned copies of their answer books. In some instances, an amount exceeding the required fee was deducted from a student's account, while in others, an insufficient fee was deposited. Furthermore, many students were unable to complete their applications at all due to technical glitches on the website.
Now, the Central Board of Secondary Education has issued a new update regarding this matter. The Board has explicitly stated that any student whose account was debited for an amount exceeding the actual fee will receive a refund for that excess sum. Additionally, for students whose applications were affected by fee-related discrepancies, the scanned copies of their answer books will still be provided, and they will not be required to submit a fresh application.
What is the full story?
On May 21 and 22, 2026, a large number of students were attempting to apply for scanned copies of their answer books via the CBSE portal. Suddenly, the website experienced a massive surge in traffic, placing immense pressure on the servers. Concurrently, various technical issues began to surface. Many students complained that they repeatedly encountered "Payment Failed" notifications while attempting to submit their fees. For some students, the fee amount was debited twice; in other cases, an amount exceeding the actual fee was deducted. Additionally, some students were unable to complete their applications, as the website kept crashing intermittently. These issues caused growing anxiety among students and parents, with many students taking to social media to share their grievances.
What has CBSE said?
A notice issued by CBSE Controller of Examinations, Dr. Sanyam Bhardwaj, states that in cases where an excess amount of fees has been deducted, the surplus sum will be refunded to the same payment mode used to make the original transaction. The Board also clarified that students who have deposited an insufficient amount of fees will be notified separately. Furthermore, if necessary, the remaining balance of the fees will be collected at a later stage. Scanned copies of their answer sheets will be made available to all affected students. Students are not required to submit a fresh application. This decision has brought significant relief to students who were distressed due to issues regarding fee deductions.
What is the Application Deadline?
Initially, the deadline to apply for scanned copies of answer sheets was set for May 23, 2026. However, due to persistent technical glitches on the website and heavy traffic volume, many students were unable to submit their applications on time. CBSE acknowledged that the portal was adversely affected by excessive load on the servers and attempts at unauthorized interference. Consequently, granting students an additional opportunity, the Board has extended the final deadline for applications to May 24, 2026.
