The Central Board of Secondary Education i.e. CBSE has taken a big decision regarding the 10th examination. CBSE has approved the criteria for conducting board examinations twice a year for class 10th. From next year i.e. 2026, CBSE Board 10th exam will be held twice a year. Will one have to appear in both the phases of examination, when will the examination be held, when will the first and second phase examinations be conducted? Question No. 1: When will the examination be held twice a year?

From next year i.e. 2026, the exam will be conducted twice a year. In this, the first phase will be conducted in February. At the same time, the second phase will be conducted in May.

Question number 2: Is it mandatory to appear in both the phases of examination?

No, it is not mandatory to appear in both the phases of examination. The first phase examination will be compulsory for the students and the second phase will be optional.

Question number 3: How many times will the internal assessment be done?

CBSE has told that internal assessments will be done only once during the academic session.

Question number 4: Will the results of both the phases be released together or separately?

As per the accepted norms, the results of both the phases of the examination will not be declared together but separately.

Question number 5: Which subjects will get a chance to appear for the exam again?

Students will be allowed to improve their performance in any three subjects out of science, mathematics, social science and languages.

Question No. 6: Who will not get the opportunity?

If a student has not appeared in 3 or more subjects in the first examination, he will not be allowed to appear in the second examination.

The first / second examinations will also serve as supplementary examinations. No special examination will be conducted under any circumstances.

The results of both the phases will be declared in April and June. The results of the first phase of the examination will be declared in April. The results of the second phase of the examination will be declared in June.

Question No. 9: Will the examination centers change or will they remain the same?

Let us inform you that the examination centers which will be decided for the first examination, the same exam centers will be allotted for the second examination as well.

Question No. 10: When will the mark sheet be available?

No passing document will be issued after the result of the first examination. The result of the first examination will be made available in DigiLocker. If the student does not want to appear in the second exam then it can be used for admission in class 11th. All candidates will get marksheet after both the exam results.

Question No. 11: Will any subject be changed after submitting LOC?

No subject will be changed after submitting LOC. If a student wants to change the subject after submitting LOC, it will be allowed only in the second exam. Such students can choose not to appear in that subject during the first exam. If they appear in the first exam, they will not be allowed to change the subject in the second exam.

It will be mandatory to fill LOC for the first exam. While filling LOC for the first exam, the option of both the exams will be obtained in the LOC. No new name will be added in the LOC of the second exam.
