Retirement Age in Government Jobs: While the standard retirement age for government jobs is 60 years, there are certain government roles in India where employees must retire much earlier. In the defense sector, specifically, the retirement age for many positions ranges between 35 and 58 years. In this article, we will discuss the jobs that entail retirement before the age of 60.

**Earliest Retirement in the Army**
In the Indian Army, the retirement age for soldiers and personnel of other ranks depends on both their rank and age. Many soldiers retire between the ages of 35 and 37, whereas the retirement age for officers can range from approximately 54 to 58 years, depending on their rank.

**Rules Have Changed for the Navy and Air Force**
The Indian Navy and Air Force also have specific retirement age norms for various positions. Officers and other personnel in many roles may retire around the age of 56 or 57, although the age limit can be higher for certain senior positions.

**Rules Have Changed for CAPF**
At one time, the retirement age for personnel ranging from constables to the Commandant level in Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF)—such as the CRPF, BSF, ITBP, and SSB—was 57 years. However, in 2019, the Ministry of Home Affairs revised the rules, setting the retirement age at 60 years for all CAPF personnel. Following this change, a larger number of personnel across the CRPF, BSF, CISF, ITBP, SSB, and Assam Rifles have gained the opportunity to serve until the age of 60.
