In 2013, Rahul Kumar joined the Shri Manan Free Coaching and Discussion Center. At that time, there weren't many coaching institutes or facilities available in Jharia for preparing for competitive exams. Rahul Kumar learned from a friend that the Shri Manan Free Coaching and Discussion Center provided preparation for various competitive exams and placed special emphasis on group discussions. He joined the center with this objective in mind.

Due to the regular studies and competitive environment at the center, many students, including Rahul Kumar, achieved success in various government exams within 1 to 2 years. Rahul Kumar began preparing for the SSC CHSL (Combined Higher Secondary Level) exam, and the results were declared in 2014. He joined his position at the end of 2016. Currently, he is working as a Postal Assistant at the Jal Gol Post Office in Dhanbad.

Syllabus and Strategy: The Path to Success
Rahul Kumar explained that previously, Postal Assistants were selected through the SSC CHSL exam. However, this position has now been included under the SSC CGL (Combined Graduate Level) exam. This means that to become a Postal Assistant, a candidate must now be a graduate and pass the SSC CGL exam.

What is a Postal Assistant?
A Postal Assistant is an important position in the Indian Postal Department (India Post). The main duties of an employee in this position include handling tasks related to letters, parcels, speed post, registered mail, savings accounts, recurring deposits (RD), fixed deposits (FD), money orders, and other postal services at the post office. Along with this, data entry on computers, providing information to customers, and managing government schemes are also the responsibilities of a Postal Assistant. This is considered a respectable and stable government job.

Syllabus for Postal Assistant Preparation
Now, candidates for the Postal Assistant position must take the SSC CGL exam. The syllabus is mainly divided into four parts:

1. General Intelligence and Reasoning: This includes questions on verbal and non-verbal reasoning, such as similarities and differences, coding-decoding, series, direction sense, blood relations, puzzles, Venn diagrams, etc. 2. General Awareness: This section includes questions related to India and the world, such as history, geography, politics, economics, science, current affairs, sports, awards, and government schemes.

3. Quantitative Aptitude (Mathematics): The mathematics section includes questions ranging from the 10th-grade level to the graduation level. Topics include percentages, profit and loss, simple and compound interest, ratio and proportion, time and work, time and distance, trigonometry, algebra, and data interpretation.

4. English Comprehension: This section tests understanding of the English language. Topics include grammar, vocabulary, sentence improvement, cloze test, passages, and spelling.

Essential Preparation Tips:
Rahul Kumar explained that regular study, mock tests, previous years' question papers, and a strong focus on current affairs are crucial. If students work hard in the right direction and prepare according to the syllabus, it is possible to get selected for a position like a Postal Assistant. This position not only provides financial security but also establishes a distinct identity in society.
