Ex-Agniveer Reservation: The central government has made a major change in the recruitment process for the Border Security Force (BSF). According to the new rules for BSF General Duty (GD) cadre recruitment, 50% of the annual vacancies will be reserved for ex-Agniveers. In addition, 10 percent of the posts will be reserved for ex-servicemen, and up to 3 percent of vacancies will be reserved for direct recruitment to Combatant Constable (Tradesman) posts.
Furthermore, a provision has been made for a maximum of 3 percent reservation for the adjustment of annual vacancies through direct recruitment to Combatant Constable (Tradesman) posts. These new rules came into effect on December 18, 2025.
The central government, exercising the powers conferred by clauses (b) and (c) of sub-section (2) of section 141 of the Border Security Force Act, 1968, has framed these new rules to amend the Border Security Force, General Duty Cadre (Non-Gazetted) Recruitment Rules, 2015.
