BPSC: The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has decided to implement significant changes to the answer system for its Multiple Choice Question (MCQ)-based examinations. According to a press release issued by the Commission, the objective of this amendment is to make the examination process more transparent, streamlined, and reliable, while also ensuring discipline among the candidates.

**Previously, Each Question Offered Four Options**
Under the previous system, four options (A, B, C, D) were provided for each question, and candidates didn't need to select any one specific option. Consequently, many candidates would leave certain questions unanswered, leading to inconsistencies in the evaluation process.

**Now, a Fifth Option Will Also Be Available**
Under the new system, five options (A, B, C, D, E) will now be provided for each question. Among these, option ‘E’ will signify "Not Attempted." If a candidate wishes to answer a question, they must select one of the options A, B, C, or D. Conversely, if a candidate wishes to skip a question, they are now required to mandatorily select option E.

**Negative Marking for Failing to Select Any Option**
The Commission has also clarified that if a candidate fails to select any of the five options, that question will be deemed unanswered, and a penalty of 1/3rd of a mark will be deducted as a consequence. In other words, leaving a question unanswered without selecting a specific option will now prove detrimental to the candidates.

**Key Highlights of the News in Five Points**
BPSC has modified the answer system for its MCQ-based examinations.
Each question will now feature 5 options (A, B, C, D, E), where ‘E’ stands for "Not Attempted."
Selecting option ‘E’ has been made mandatory for candidates wishing to skip a question.
Failure to select any option will result in a deduction of 1/3rd of a mark per question.
This new system will be implemented in the upcoming BPSC examinations. This change is expected to bring greater transparency to the examination system, as candidates will now be required to clearly indicate their status for every question—whether they intend to answer it or skip it. This will render the evaluation process more accurate and impartial.

The Commission has announced that this revised system will be implemented in the upcoming examinations. Candidates are advised to prepare with this new system in mind and ensure strict adherence to the instructions during the examination to avoid any potential deduction of marks.
