The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) will conduct the 71st Combined Preliminary Examination 2025 on September 13, 2025, across designated exam centers in the state. The commission has already released the admit cards for all registered candidates, and strict guidelines have been issued regarding exam-day reporting time, entry protocols, and documents required.

Exam Timing and Reporting Schedule

The BPSC Prelims will be held in a single shift from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Candidates are advised to reach their respective centers well in advance. Entry to the exam hall will begin at 9:30 AM, but the gates will be closed at 11:00 AM, one hour before the start of the test. Those arriving late will not be allowed inside under any circumstances.

Mandatory Documents to Carry

Candidates must carry the following items to the exam center:

  • A printed admit card (downloaded from the official BPSC portal)

  • A valid photo identity card (Aadhaar card, PAN card, voter ID, passport, or driving license)

Without both the admit card and a valid photo ID, entry to the examination hall will be strictly prohibited.

Recruitment Details

The 71st BPSC recruitment drive is being conducted for 1,298 vacancies. Initially, the notification was issued for 1,250 posts, but later 48 additional posts were added, bringing the total to the current figure.

Exam Pattern

The preliminary exam will consist of 150 multiple-choice questions, each carrying one mark. Candidates will have two hours to complete the paper, which will be conducted in offline (pen-and-paper) mode.

  • Correct answer: +1 mark

  • Wrong answer: -⅓ mark (negative marking applies)

  • Unattempted question: No deduction

Candidates who qualify in the Prelims will move on to the Main examination, followed by the interview round. The final merit list will be prepared based on the combined performance in the Mains and Interview stages.

Important Exam-Day Instructions

  • Arrive at least 2.5 hours early to avoid last-minute issues.

  • Ensure that all required documents are carried to the venue.

  • Follow the exam center’s security checks and guidelines carefully.

  • Attempt only those questions you are confident about, since negative marking applies.

The BPSC 71st Prelims is a major step for candidates aspiring to secure administrative positions in Bihar. With strict reporting rules and a large number of candidates expected, reaching early and being well-prepared will be key to a smooth exam experience.
