The 10th and 12th-grade board exams in Haryana are about to begin. As the exams approach, the tension among students and their parents increases. As always, the greatest fear is related to mathematics. Some children get nervous just hearing the word "math." Some can't remember the formulas, others don't understand the questions, and some keep wondering what kind of questions will be on the paper and whether they will even pass. Whether it's the CBSE or the Haryana Board, this story is almost the same in every household.

Proper preparation is essential.
To address this dilemma, Local18 spoke to mathematics expert Dr. MP Singh. He clearly stated that there is no need to fear math; only proper preparation is necessary. Based on his extensive experience, he has given some tips for students that can help them not only pass but also score good marks.

Dr. MP Singh said that he started his career in 1980 as a math lecturer at Government College, Faridabad. He has been teaching for about 46 years. He holds a PhD in Mathematics and has also taught students of MDA, M.Com, B.Tech, and M.Tech. He has also been a paper setter and has trained students for major exams like UPSC and HPSC. More than 40 of his books are available in the market, including math books for classes one to twelve.

No need to fear math
Dr. MP Singh says that nowadays, children start fearing math from a young age. As soon as math is mentioned, children try to avoid it. Sometimes, parents also don't pay attention to this. In the olden days, children would solve problems repeatedly by writing them on a slate. Parents and siblings would also ask questions at home, which strengthened the children's understanding of the concepts.

Practice is essential
The habits of children have changed now. They look at the questions in books like MBD and RD Sharma and move on without practicing by writing. They don't solve previous years' papers at home either. Dr. MP Singh says this is the biggest mistake. If a child solves the question papers from the last 3 to 5 years and practices the questions from the teacher's tests at school two or three times, then 60-80 percent marks are guaranteed. He confidently says that such children never fail.

Dr. M.P. Singh also explained that only those children who listen to their teachers and practice regularly at home succeed. Many children read the book but think, "I already know this," and don't practice. These same children get confused in the exam hall and forget even what they had studied.

Things to keep in mind in the exam hall
He also specifically mentioned some points about the exam hall: First, read the entire paper carefully. Do the questions that seem easy first. Do the longer questions later. Don't waste time, don't look around, and avoid frequently going to drink water or the toilet... this breaks your concentration.

Solve old question papers.
Dr. M.P. Singh says that confidence in math comes only through practice. If a child practices daily, listens to the teacher, and solves old question papers, they will not only pass but can also score more than 90%. There is no need to be afraid of math; just study with hard work and understanding, and everything will become easy.
