The application process for 'spot round' admissions to vacant undergraduate seats in all traditional universities in Bihar and their affiliated colleges will begin on Tuesday. Applications will be facilitated through the Samarth portal, and interested students can apply within the designated timeframe. Universities, including Patna University and Patliputra University, have issued guidelines regarding spot round admissions.

**How many options can students select?**
Students applying for the spot round will have the opportunity to select multiple preferences. They can choose up to a maximum of 10 colleges. Additionally, they can select new options for five subjects. Before applying, students should check the details of vacant seats—broken down by college and subject—at the respective university. Information regarding vacant seats will be made available on the Samarth portal.

**Who can apply?**
Students who had applied previously but failed to secure admission to any college or course are also eligible to apply for the spot round. Previously registered students can apply using their existing login IDs; no additional fee will be charged to them for this process. Universities have clarified that admissions during the spot round will not be granted based on any quota categories.

**When will the merit list be released?**
A list of eligible students will be released after the application process for the spot round concludes. According to information provided by the universities, the eligibility list will be published in October. Students must fill in details regarding their application, chosen college, and subject carefully to avoid any complications later.

**What has changed at Patliputra University?**
Patliputra University has also taken a significant decision regarding internships for fifth-semester students. The university has cancelled previous agreements related to internships. Colleges will now have to arrange internships afresh for the 2026-27 academic session. The responsibility for establishing agreements with institutions at the college level has been assigned to the colleges themselves.

**Where must the internships be conducted?**

The university has directed that students must first be placed for internships with institutions listed on the university's official website. If the university does not have a direct agreement with a listed institution, the principal of the respective college and the newly appointed internship coordinator must establish a new agreement with that institution.

What will be the responsibility of the colleges?
Once a new agreement is finalized, colleges must inform the university via email. Instead of the university, the respective colleges will now be responsible for coordinating with institutions to arrange internships for fifth-semester students. This increases the colleges' responsibilities, as they will have to manage the students' internship programs independently.

When must the internships be conducted?
Patliputra University has also directed that internships be conducted during vacation periods. The objective is to avoid any disruption to regular classes. Colleges must prepare internship schedules in a manner that ensures students' academic studies are not adversely affected. Under this arrangement, colleges are required to coordinate with students and the relevant institutions promptly.
