During the protest, students broke through police barricades at JP Golambar and Dakbungalow Crossing and attempted to march towards the Chief Minister's residence; the police subsequently resorted to a lathi-charge.

The police also detained several protesting students. The demonstrators alleged large-scale malpractice in the examination and demanded an impartial investigation, as well as a re-examination.

**Evidence of Irregularities Found at Several Centers**
In light of the students' protests, the investigation into the paper leak and answer key issue was handed over to the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Economic Offences Unit (EOU). The Commission took this major decision following an investigation that uncovered evidence of significant irregularities at several examination centers. The EOU probe revealed that the Sub-Inspector recruitment exam paper was leaked and shared via a group created on the Telegram app, rather than WhatsApp.

Meanwhile, in a released notice, the BPSSC has urged candidates to disregard misleading information spread by anti-social elements through any channel. It further stated that details regarding the Sub-Inspector Main Written Examination and the announcement of the new exam date would be released soon. Candidates are advised to rely solely on the official BPSSC website for the latest updates.
