Bihar SIR: Those whose names haven't been included in the voter list even after the final publication can add their names by filling out Form-6. This process can be completed both online and offline.
Bihar SIR: Preparations for the Bihar Assembly elections are in full swing. Meanwhile, an important update has emerged regarding the voter list. The State Election Department has clarified that citizens whose names are not included in the voter list, even after the final publication, can still get their names included.
For this process, they must fill out Form-6 and submit it to the Booth Level Officer (BLO) in their area. This process has been made completely simple and transparent. Citizens can apply both online and offline if they wish.
What are the Election Commission's rules?
According to the Election Commission's rules, these applications will be accepted until eight days before the last date of nomination. After submitting the application, it will be posted on a notice board and made public for seven days to allow any objections. If no objections are raised during this period, the returning officer grants permission to include the name on the eighth day, after which the voter can vote.
Notices to be sent to three lakh voters
It has also come to light that notices have been sent to approximately three lakh voters in the state for not submitting the required documents. They have been asked to provide their documents within the stipulated time limit; otherwise, their names will not be included in the final list.
Whose names will be removed from the voter list?
The Election Commission has also clarified that during the SIR (Special Intensive Revision) process, the names of deceased, relocated, and duplicate voters will be automatically removed from the final published voter list. The aim is to ensure a completely clean and fair voter list, ensuring transparency in the election process.
People believe that this move by the Commission will be a relief for those whose names were not included in the list for some reason. The Commission has appealed to the citizens to get their names added by filling Form-6 in time so that their participation in the democratic process can be ensured.
