The competency test for granting state employee status to teachers in Bihar has now reached its final stage. Four phases of the examination have already been conducted, and the application process for the fifth and final phase has begun. A total of 266,786 teachers have passed in the first four phases, while approximately 80,000 to 100,000 teachers remain. This is the last chance for teachers who have not yet appeared for the competency test or have not been successful in it to become state employees.

Last chance for those who haven't participated yet
Applications for the fifth phase will be accepted until January 9th. The examination will be conducted this month, and the results are expected to be declared by February. According to Anand Kishore, Chairman of the Bihar School Examination Board, teachers who have not yet taken the competency test or have not passed it can appear in this final phase.

As the final phase of the examination approaches, teachers' anxiety is also increasing. To assist teachers appearing for the exam, Local 18 spoke to experts regarding preparation for the competency test. Expert teachers have shared several important tips for success in the examination. Teachers can prepare better with the help of these tips.

Questions will be based on what is taught in the classroom.
Nitesh Kumar, State President of TSS (BMS), said that, like the other phases, the fifth competency test will also be conducted online through a computer-based test (CBT). He said that the questions in this examination will be based on the syllabus of the TRE examination conducted by the BPSC. The examination will include subject-based questions as well as language-related questions. The questions will be asked from the curriculum that the teachers teach in the classroom.

Questions from all languages and subjects
Teachers of classes 1 to 5 will be asked questions related to all subjects and languages. Teachers of higher classes will be asked questions only from their respective subjects. Nitesh Kumar said that teachers need not panic. By preparing thoroughly in the subjects they teach, they can easily pass the examination. Questions will be asked only from books up to the tenth grade.

Pintu Kumar Singh, the state president of the Graduate Grade Trained Teachers Association, said that candidates should quickly review the books from the sixth to the tenth grade, as all the questions are asked from these books. They should also gather information about some current affairs topics. Avoid getting bogged down in thick, voluminous books, as this will only lead to confusion.

Taking the competency test is very important.
Experts say that appearing for the competency test is mandatory for all appointed teachers. After passing this exam, teachers will be categorized as special teachers and will receive the status of state government employees. After becoming state government employees, teachers will receive several benefits. These include the benefits of the Eighth Pay Commission, NPS benefits, gratuity benefits, promotion benefits, various types of leave, and other government facilities.

What will happen to those who fail even in the last attempt?
According to experts, teachers who fail to pass even the fifth competency test or are unable to appear for the exam for any reason will remain appointed teachers as per the order of the Honorable Court. Such teachers will continue to provide their services in the same way they have been working until now. They will not be removed from their jobs.

How many have passed so far?
According to the data released by the Bihar School Examination Board, out of a total of 1,99,027 teacher candidates who appeared in the first competency test, 1,87,818 teacher candidates passed.
