The results for the Bihar Board Class 12 Examination 2026 have been released. On March 23, the state's Education Minister, Sushil Kumar, and BSEB Chairman, Anand Kishor, announced the results during a press conference. This year, there has been a slight decline in the passing percentage. A total of 85.19 percent of students passed the examination this time, whereas the passing percentage stood at 86.50 percent last year and 87.21 percent in 2024. Much like last year, girls have once again outperformed boys in the Class 12 examinations. The passing percentage for girls is 86.23 percent, while for boys, it is 84.09 percent. A total of 26 students topped the examination, including 19 female students across all three streams—Science, Arts, and Commerce.

Who are the Toppers in the Three Streams?
This year, Aditya Prakash from Samastipur topped the Science stream. He secured a total of 481 marks—equivalent to 96.20 percent—in the examination. Meanwhile, Aditi Kumari from Patna emerged as the topper in the Commerce stream, having obtained 480 marks, or 96 percent. In the Arts stream, Nishu Kumari from Gaya secured the top spot with 479 marks, translating to 95.80 percent.

Schedule for Scrutiny and Compartmental Examinations Released
If a student fails to pass the examination even after receiving grace marks, they have two primary options available to them. The first option is to apply for a re-evaluation of their answer sheet. If any error is detected in the marking, the Board may subsequently revise and increase the student's marks. Alternatively, a second option is available for students who have failed in one or two subjects: they can save their academic year by appearing in the compartmental examination held in April-May.

Students who are dissatisfied with their marks, or who have failed in one or two subjects, may apply online for re-evaluation of their answer scripts and for the Compartmental-cum-Special examinations between March 25 and April 2, 2026. This offers a lifeline to those students who fell short by a narrow margin, ensuring that their entire academic year is not wasted.

Who is eligible to apply for the Compartmental Examination?
Any student who is dissatisfied with their marks and believes they should have received a higher score may apply for re-evaluation in one or more subjects; meanwhile, students who have failed in a maximum of two subjects are eligible to appear for the compartmental examination. Furthermore, students who had filled out the examination form but were unable to appear for the exam for any reason—such as errors in their admit cards or other technical issues—may take the examination in all subjects under the 'Special Examination' category.
