Bihar Board Extends Registration Deadline for Class 10 & 12 Exams; Check Updates

The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) has extended the registration deadline for the annual Class 10 and Class 12 examinations scheduled for 2028. Eligible students can now register until October 24, 2026. Previously, the deadline was set for October 10, 2026. The Board made this decision in response to requests from students and schools, as well as to address pending applications and technical issues related to the online portal.

New Deadline and Who Is the Registration For?

According to the BSEB, advance registration is currently underway for students who will appear in the 2028 board examinations. The new deadline has been set for October 24, 2026. Students currently in Class 9 will take the Matric (Class 10) exam in 2028, while students in Class 11 will appear for the Intermediate (Class 12) board exam in the same year.

School Principals to Fill Online Forms

The registration process will be completed through the school principal or an authorized official. Schools must visit the official website to fill out the online registration forms for eligible students. They are required to carefully enter details such as the students' personal information, subjects, photographs, signatures, and other necessary particulars. All information should be thoroughly verified before submitting the forms.

What Is the Reason for Extending the Deadline?

According to Dr. Tyagrajan SM, Chairman of the Bihar School Examination Board, the decision to extend the registration deadline was made for several important reasons, including requests from numerous schools, colleges, and students to extend the timeframe for registration. Additionally, a large number of eligible students were unable to complete their applications by October 10. Schools have been granted extra time to finalize the registration for these students. Some students and schools encountered technical difficulties while filling out forms on the online portal. Furthermore, some students missed out on registration due to other practical reasons. The Board aims to ensure that no eligible student is deprived of appearing for the 2028 board examinations due to a lack of registration.

Why will the exam be held in 2028?

Under the Bihar Board's system, advance registration for the Matric (Class 10) and Intermediate (Class 12) examinations takes place approximately two years in advance. Students currently in Class 9 in 2026 will appear for the Class 10 board exam in 2028, while students currently in Class 11 in 2026 will appear for the Class 12 board exam in 2028. Consequently, the registration process for the 2028 Matric and Intermediate examinations has commenced in 2026.
