Big news for UP students: ₹148 crore transferred to 4.60 lakh accounts

Scholarship and fee reimbursement funds totaling over ₹148 crore have been transferred to the accounts of more than 4.60 lakh students in Uttar Pradesh. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath disbursed this amount via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the first phase of the distribution process at an event held at Lok Bhawan in Lucknow. Students belonging to the General, Other Backward Classes (OBC), Scheduled Castes (SC), and Minority categories benefited from this transfer.

Students from the OBC category received the highest share of benefits in this phase. Funds amounting to ₹60.1 crore were transferred to 2,23,615 OBC students, ₹64.54 crore to 1,59,959 SC students, ₹11.43 crore to 38,084 General category students, and ₹12.6 crore to 38,901 students from minority communities. Across all these categories, the total number of beneficiaries exceeds 4.60 lakh, and the total disbursed amount is over ₹148 crore.

Scholarships ranging from ₹2,250 to ₹14,000

The amount received by students varies based on their category and eligibility. According to available information, the scholarship amounts range from ₹2,250 to ₹14,000. Additionally, under the fee reimbursement scheme, the eligible fees paid by the students are refunded. Both the scholarship and fee reimbursement amounts have been transferred directly into the students' bank accounts. Over 6.59 million students to benefit in 2025-26

In the 2025-26 financial year, more than 6.59 million (65.95 lakh) students are receiving financial scholarships and fee reimbursements. A total amount exceeding ₹4,793 crore is being disbursed under this initiative. The government states that integrating the entire system with automation has helped streamline the application and payment processes. This approach ensures the timely transfer of funds to eligible students and maintains transparency throughout the process.

How to check if the scholarship has been credited to your account

To check your scholarship status, visit the UP Scholarship portal.
On the home page, click on the 'Status-Student' option.
Next, click on the '2025-26 Session Application Status' link.
Enter your registration number and date of birth.
Fill in the captcha code and click on 'Search'.
Your scholarship status will appear on the screen immediately.
