BHU UG Admission 2026: Registration for undergraduate admission at Banaras Hindu University has begun; apply by July 25..
Banaras Hindu University (BHU) has commenced the online registration process for admission to undergraduate (UG) courses. The admission portal went live late Thursday night, allowing eligible candidates to apply until 11:59 PM on July 25. Specific changes have been made to the portal this year to make the admission process more transparent and efficient, ensuring that only eligible candidates can register. The university aims to initiate the seat allotment process within a week and complete admissions for all UG courses by August.
With the postgraduate (PG) admission process nearing completion, BHU has now started the admission process for undergraduate courses. The university's UG admission portal is live, and interested students can apply online until July 25. Prof. Bhaskar Bhattacharya, Coordinator of the Central Admission Committee, stated that technical improvements have been made to the admission portal this year to restrict applications to eligible candidates only. This measure is expected to reduce unnecessary delays and minimize the number of ineligible applicants.
**Admission to Over 9,200 Seats**
BHU has already released the UG admission bulletin and other essential guidelines. Approximately 9,200 seats are available across more than 1,000 subject combinations within various faculties, including Arts, Science, Social Sciences, and Visual Arts. These include seats reserved for specific categories, dependents of BHU employees, and international students. While over a lakh students apply annually, a significant number of applications are rejected due to issues regarding documentation or eligibility.
**Admissions Also Underway at Vidyapith**
This year, a system has been implemented on the Samarth portal for the online verification of CUET-UG scores and necessary documents. This facilitates the verification of eligibility at an early stage. Meanwhile, the seat allotment process for courses requiring practical examinations—such as BFA and BPA—will be conducted separately. The university is preparing to conclude the UG admission process by August.
Meanwhile, at Kashi Vidyapith, 173 students enrolled in the B.Sc. (Biology) program and 22 in the B.Mus. program on Thursday. After paying their fees, the students were issued identity cards and library cards on the spot. Counseling for the B.Sc. (Biology) and B.F.A. programs is scheduled for July 10.
