BHU Skill Courses: In the current scenario, the demand for skills has increased alongside academic degrees. Skills are now considered a guarantee of employment. As a result, the trend of pursuing skills courses along with traditional degrees has grown over the past decade. Young people are pursuing skill development courses from expensive educational institutions, but now these courses can be completed online from home for free. Banaras Hindu University (BHU) is offering this opportunity. BHU has launched 121 free online courses. Most importantly, these courses are available in Hindi, English, and other Indian languages.

BHU, under the Institute of National Importance (INI), has announced the launch of 121 credit-ready online courses for the January 2026 session. These 121 skill development courses have been launched on the SWAYAM portal. SWAYAM is a portal of the Central Ministry of Education, which provides free online education. The application process for admission to the 121 skill development courses launched by BHU is ongoing. Applications can be submitted on the BHU SWAYAM portal. These courses are scheduled to begin on January 26 and February 16, 2026.

Along with BHU, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has also launched skill development courses. BHU has launched skill development courses in Science, Engineering, Management, Medicine, Education, Humanities, Social Sciences, Law, and Interdisciplinary Studies.  Reasons for launching skill development courses
Giving details about the 121 skill development courses launched by BHU, National Coordinator, INISWAYAM, Dr. Ashutosh Mohan, said that these programs focus on areas such as customer discovery, media strategy, idea validation, compliance, and market entry for first-time founders. He said that these courses are in line with the spirit of NEP 2020. BHU will ensure that these courses are interdisciplinary, focused on making students skilled, and open to all motivated students.
