BHU Admission 2025: Now admission in BHU will be based on merit and not CUET, UGC has issued instructions..

BHU Admission 2025: Banaras Hindu University (BHU) undergraduate and postgraduate admission process is at its peak. So far, 4 allotment lists have been released by the BHU administration for PG admission. At the same time, 2 allotment lists have been released for UG admission. Even after this, many seats are still vacant in BHU. Now admission in these seats will be on the basis of merit and not CUET. UGC has issued instructions regarding this.
Let us know what UGC has said about BHU admission? How is preparation being made to start the admission process based on merit for the remaining seats of BHU?
Admission based on CUET rank
BHU also gives admission in UG and PG seats on the basis of the rank of the Common University Entrance Test (CUET). For example, only students appearing in CUET UG can apply for admission in UG and PG from BHU. Admission is done on the basis of CUET ranking.
How many seats are left
BHU had invited applications for admission to 10 thousand PG seats. BHU had released 4 allotment lists for admission to these seats. According to the information, on the basis of these 4 lists, 6 thousand students took admission based on the CUET PG ranking. At the same time, about 3 thousand seats are reserved under supernumerary quota. After this, 1200 seats remained. For admission in these seats, BHU is organizing a mop-up round from 12 to 16 August, but even after this, many seats may remain vacant.
Similarly, BHU had invited applications for admission to 9200 UG seats on the basis of CUET UG ranking. 2 allotment lists have been released for admission to these seats. The next list is to be released on August 18, but even after this, many seats are expected to remain vacant.
Admission based on merit on vacant seats, UGC issued instructions
BHU will now give admission on the basis of merit on vacant seats, eliminating the requirement of CUET for the time being. UGC has issued instructions regarding this. The BHU administration had informed UGC in this regard. After this, UGC has issued instructions. In this, UGC has issued SOP for admission.
UGC Secretary Manish R Joshi has clarified in the instructions that seats remaining vacant in the university are a waste of resources. In the issued SOP, UGC has said that other candidates can be admitted to the vacant seats. However, the requirement of CUET will not been abolished in the future.
BHU can invite new applications
After the instructions of UGC, BHU can invite new applications for admission in the remaining vacant seats. It is believed that either BHU will give admission in the remaining vacant seats on the basis of merit i.e. 12th or graduation marks or an entrance exam can be organized for admission.
