In the official list of holidays released at the beginning of 2026, the Bakrid holiday was scheduled for May 27. **West Bengal:** Initially, a two-day holiday was scheduled for May 26 and 27; however, this was subsequently revised to a single day. Consequently, schools and colleges across the state remain closed today—May 28—on account of Bakrid.

**Holiday Today for the Supreme Court, Banks, and Government Offices**
Apart from schools, today is also a holiday for the working population. The Supreme Court, too, had originally scheduled its holiday for May 27, but this was later rescheduled to May 28. Similarly, following an order from the Union Ministry of Personnel, all central government administrative offices located in Delhi—as well as private companies—remain closed today.
