Atal Bihari Vajpayee Scholarship: There is good news for the youth of UP who are dreaming of higher education from abroad. Such youth will now get a chance to study in the prestigious universities of Britain on scholarship. In this regard, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has approved a scholarship scheme on the death anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Under the Chevening-Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee Uttar Pradesh State Government Scholarship Scheme, the UP government will bear the expenses of the students of the state for studying in Britain. On Tuesday, an agreement was signed between the Uttar Pradesh government and the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) UK in the presence of CM Yogi Adityanath at his official residence.

Scholarship scheme for three years now
Chevening-Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee Uttar Pradesh State Government Scholarship Scheme will be operated for three years at present, under which this scholarship scheme will run till the academic session 2025-26, 2026-27, and 2027-28. After this, the scheme will be renewed from 2028-29.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that this scholarship scheme is a tribute to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, whose visionary leadership gave a new direction to India. In this initiative, the UP government and the British government will jointly provide financial assistance, which will reduce the financial burden on the students.
Scholarship for a master's degree, full expenses of the student waived
Under the Chevening-Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee Uttar Pradesh State Government Scholarship Scheme, scholarships will be provided to the students for a master's degree. Students can be eligible for a scholarship for a master's course at any university in Britain. Under the scholarship, there is a provision to waive the entire cost of the student's studies. For example, the entire tuition fee, exam fee, living allowance, and airfare to and from the UK will also be given under the scholarship. The UP government has claimed that it will cost around £38,048 to £42,076 (about ₹45 to ₹48 lakhs) per student. Out of this, the Uttar Pradesh government will bear about £19,800 (₹23 lakhs), and the remaining amount will be borne by FCDO UK.
5 students get a chance in one session
This new scholarship scheme will prove beneficial for those students who want to study abroad but are unable to do so due to financial constraints. Under this scheme, every year, five talented students will get a chance to study in prestigious institutions in Britain. While signing the MoU in Lucknow in the presence of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, British High Commissioner to India Lindy Cameron said that it is a matter of great pleasure to come to Lucknow and sign this agreement. She said that this is a symbol of growing relations between the United Kingdom and India.
