Preparations are underway in Uttar Pradesh to honor teachers for their outstanding contributions. The Department of Secondary Education has announced the application dates for the 'State Teacher Award' and the 'Chief Minister’s Teacher Award.' Interested teachers can submit their applications online starting from November 10, with the application process remaining open until November 30. Teachers and principals from government, government-aided, Sanskrit, and unaided secondary schools are eligible to apply for these awards.

The selection process will involve an evaluation based on several criteria, including the teachers' performance, student attendance, and examination results. The entire selection process is scheduled to be completed by January 2027.

Applications open from November 10 to November 30
According to the schedule released by the Department of Secondary Education, online applications for the State Teacher Award and the Chief Minister’s Teacher Award will commence on November 10. The deadline for submission is November 30. Interested candidates must apply through the official website of the Department of Secondary Education: upmsp.edu.in. The Director of Secondary Education, Pratap Singh Baghel, has issued the necessary directives in this regard. The department has also established a comprehensive schedule covering the entire process, from application to final selection.

Who is eligible for the State and Chief Minister’s Teacher Awards?
Teachers will be selected for these awards based on the category of the institution. Teachers, principals, and headmasters from government secondary schools, government-aided schools, and Sanskrit secondary schools are eligible for the State Teacher Award. Meanwhile, teachers, principals, and headmasters working in unaided secondary schools are eligible to apply for the Chief Minister’s Teacher Award.

Selection process completion date
Once applications are received, they will first be reviewed by a district-level committee. This phase will take place from December 1 to December 15, during which the applications will be vetted, and on-site verification of the schools will be conducted. The proposals for eligible candidates will then be forwarded to a divisional-level committee.

The divisional-level committee will submit these proposals to the directorate-level selection committee between December 16 and December 30. Following this, proposals will be submitted to the state-level committee between December 31 and January 14, 2027. The state-level committee will complete the final selection process between January 15 and January 24, 2027.

On what basis will the evaluation be conducted?
The selection of teachers will be based on the criteria established in 2022, with a total of 120 marks assigned to the process. The evaluation will prioritize a teacher’s outstanding performance, student attendance, examination results, an increase in student enrollment at the school, and the effective use of available resources.

Additionally, teachers will be required to outline the efforts they have made to improve their schools. Candidates will be evaluated based on all these aspects, and those selected will be chosen for the award.
