The National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued an official clarification regarding the use of calculators by candidates in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2026. According to the notice issued by the NTA, the on-screen calculator facility during the JEE Main 2026 exam (CBT) is not applicable for the JEE Main 2026 exam. The agency has clarified that the use of calculators for the CBT is part of the common exam conduct platform; however, it will not be applicable for JEE Main 2026. Thus, candidates appearing for the exam cannot use calculators in any form. In fact, the NTA issued the clarification because the JEE (Main) 2026 Information Bulletin, released on the NTA website, stated that an on-screen calculator would be available during the Computer-Based Test (CBT).

The NTA stated, "Appendix VIII of the Information Bulletin on 'Computer Based Test (CBT)" for JEE (Main) 2026, uploaded on the NTA's official website, mentions that an on-screen standard calculator will be available during the Computer Based Test (CBT). However, this feature is part of the common examination conducting platform and does not apply to the JEE (Main) conducted by the NTA, as the use of calculators in any form is not permitted in this examination."

Then, candidates should click on the link "Clarification on the use of Virtual Calculator in JEE (Main) 2026" on the homepage.

The notice will open.

Candidates should now check and download it.

Finally, take a printout if desired.
