In the order issued by the district administration, it was said that IMD Dehradun and NDMA issued an alert on July 30 that on July 31, a red alert had been issued for heavy to hefty rain at some places in Dehradun and lightning or very intense to extremely intense spell of rain with thunder at some places. It was further said that due to heavy rains in the district, the possibility of landslides in sensitive places increases, due to which any kind of untoward incident can happen. IMD has issued a red alert for rain in Dehradun, Tehri, Haridwar, Pauri, Nainital, Udham Singh Nagar, and Champawat.
