AILET Counselling: National Law University (NLU) Delhi has started the counselling registration process for candidates who have qualified in the All India Law Entrance Test (AILET) 2026. According to the information released by the university, candidates who submit their counselling application and the prescribed fee by 11:00 AM on December 27, 2025, will be eligible to participate in the further admission process.

Eligible candidates interested in admission to BA LLB and LLM courses must complete the online counselling process within the stipulated time frame by visiting nationallawuniversitydelhi.in.

NLU Delhi has clarified that the entire AILET 2026 counselling process will be conducted in online mode only. The candidate's registration will be considered valid only after successful payment of the counselling fee.
Counselling Invitation Sent Based on Merit
The university has invited approximately three times the number of candidates compared to the available seats in each category for online counselling registration, based on the merit list. Eligible candidates have been notified via email and SMS to their registered email IDs and mobile numbers.

However, NLU Delhi has clarified that the university will not be responsible if a candidate does not receive the email or SMS. Candidates can also check their counselling invitation on their AILET 2026 login dashboard.

Counselling Fee Refund Facility Available
Candidates who register for counselling but later do not take admission at NLU Delhi will be eligible for a refund of the counselling fee as per the university's rules. Candidates are advised to complete the process in time to avoid being excluded from subsequent rounds.

How much is the counseling fee?
For AILET 2026 counseling:

General and KM category candidates will have to pay ₹30,000.
SC, ST, OBC, EWS, and PWD category candidates will have to pay ₹20,000 for both BA LLB and LLM courses.
The last date for submitting the counseling fee is December 27, 2025.

Merit List Dates
As per the schedule released by NLU Delhi:

First Provisional Merit List: January 8, 2026
Second Provisional Merit List: January 21, 2026
Third Provisional Merit List: February 4, 2026
Fourth Provisional Merit List: May 5, 2026

The university has also clarified that the provisional merit list will be released only for those candidates who have completed the online counseling registration and submitted the fee on time. Furthermore, registration for counseling does not guarantee a seat. Admission will be purely based on merit and the availability of seats.
