Agniveer recruitment is an integral part of the Agnipath scheme, which was launched to recruit the youth into the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force. Under this scheme, young individuals are provided the opportunity to serve in the armed forces for a period of four years. Selected candidates are designated as 'Agniveers.' It is a universally acknowledged fact that serving in the Indian Army is a matter of immense pride. Service in the armed forces not only garners respect and honor but also offers substantial financial benefits. All soldiers recruited under the Agniveer scheme receive an annual remuneration package, which sees a progressive increase each year throughout their four-year tenure. Furthermore, upon the completion of their four years of service, they are entitled to a 'Seva Nidhi' (Service Fund) package.

The service tenure for an Agniveer spans four years. In the first year, the monthly salary stands at ₹30,000; of this amount, ₹9,000 is deposited into the Agniveer Corpus Fund, leaving the Agniveer with a take-home pay of ₹21,000. An equivalent amount of ₹9,000 is also contributed to the Agniveer Corpus Fund by the Government of India.

Subsequently, in the second year, the monthly salary rises to ₹33,000. From this sum, the take-home pay amounts to ₹23,100, while ₹9,900 is transferred to the Corpus Fund. The government, in turn, also deposits an equal contribution of ₹9,900 into the same fund. Moving into the third year, the Agniveer's salary increases to ₹36,500 per month; of this, they receive ₹25,550 as take-home pay, with the remaining ₹10,950 being credited to the Corpus Fund. Once again, the government matches this contribution by depositing an equivalent amount into the fund.

In the fourth and final year of service, the Agniveer's monthly salary reaches ₹40,000. From this total, they receive a take-home pay of ₹28,000, while the remaining ₹12,000 is deposited into the Corpus Fund. Additionally, the government also transfers ₹12,000 into the corpus fund. After four years of service, a total of ₹5.2 lakh accumulates in the Agniveer's corpus fund.

What is the 'Seva Nidhi' Scheme?
Upon the completion of four years, Agniveers receive a lump-sum 'Seva Nidhi' package amounting to approximately ₹10.04 lakh. This amount is entirely tax-free and comprises the Agniveer's own contribution, an equal matching contribution from the government, and the interest accrued during the period of service. Furthermore, Agniveers receive an insurance cover of ₹48 lakh as well as a skill certificate, which can prove beneficial in securing future employment.
