A significant rule has emerged for the youth recruited under the Agnipath scheme. This rule is directly related to the personal lives of the Agniveers. Yes, if an Agniveer gets married during their four-year tenure, they will be disqualified from the Army recruitment process and will not be able to become a permanent soldier. This strict rule has been issued by the Army. The Army has clarified that Agniveers who wish to become permanent soldiers after their four years of service must not get married for a certain period.

According to the Army's new guidelines, an Agniveer cannot get married until they receive the final order for permanent appointment. If an Agniveer gets married during this period, they will be disqualified from the process of becoming a permanent soldier. Such candidates will neither be able to apply for selection nor participate in any stage of the recruitment process.

Army Explains the Rule
After this rule came to light, many Agniveers are wondering how long they will have to wait to get married. The Army has clarified this as well. The process of permanent recruitment begins after the completion of four years of service, which usually takes 4 to 6 months. Agniveers should not get married during this entire period.

The Agnipath scheme was launched in 2022. The service period of the first batch recruited under this scheme is now about to end. The four-year service of the first batch of Agniveers will end between June and July 2026. This batch included approximately 20,000 young people.

Marriage Allowed After Becoming a Permanent Soldier
Only about 25 percent of these Agniveers will get the opportunity to join the Indian Army as permanent soldiers. The selection process will be entirely merit-based, taking into account several parameters such as physical fitness, written examination, discipline, and performance during service. After the completion of their service period, Agniveers will have to apply separately for permanent recruitment. The selection process will then be completed. The army has clearly stated that if any Agniveer (recruit) gets married before the final selection list is released, their candidature will be automatically cancelled.

However, those Agniveers who are selected as permanent soldiers will be fully permitted to marry after their appointment. This restriction will be lifted once they are permanently inducted into the army, and they will be free to marry according to their wishes.
