UP Agniveer Reservation, Up Agniveer Quota 2025: The Uttar Pradesh government has made a big announcement for Agniveers. Now former Agniveers will get 20% reservation in UP Police and Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC). Along with this, they will also get relaxation in age limit. This decision was taken in the cabinet meeting held on 3 June 2025 in Lok Bhavan under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. After this decision of the UP government, now Agniveers will be able to get jobs in UP Police and PSC easily.
Up Agniveer Quota 2025: 20% seats reserved for Agniveers
The UP government has decided that Agniveers who have served in the Indian Army, Navy, or Air Force under the Agneepath scheme will be given 20% reservation during recruitment in UP Police and PAC. That is, 20% of seats in these recruitments will be reserved for Agniveers. Apart from this, these Agniveers will also get relaxation in the age limit for recruitment, so that they can apply easily. This proposal was prepared by the Home Department and was approved by the Cabinet.
Agnipath Yojana Agniveer: What is Agnipath Yojana?
The central government started the Agnipath scheme in 2022. Under this, youth are recruited as Agniveers in the Army, Navy, and Air Force for four years. This four-year tenure includes six months of training. After completion of four years of service, a merit list is prepared based on the efficiency of the Agniveers. Based on this merit, 25% of the Agniveers can get permanent jobs in the army. The remaining 75% of Agniveers retire. It is estimated that the first batch of about 1 lakh Agniveers will retire in 2026-27. Out of these, about 25,000 can get permanent jobs in the army and the rest will be able to apply for government jobs.
