SSC New Scheme: The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts several recruitment drives every year, and a large number of candidates participate in them. While candidates are selected according to the number of vacancies, a significant number of positions remain vacant in various SSC recruitments. This is because many selected candidates do not join. This results in losses for both the SSC and the candidates. On one hand, SSC positions remain vacant even after the recruitment process is completed, and on the other hand, other selected candidates miss out on opportunities because some selected candidates don't join. Keeping this in mind, the SSC is going to implement a new system under which selected candidates will be able to confirm their seats.

Let's understand what the new SSC system is and how candidates participating in the recruitment process will be able to confirm their seats.

30 Percent of Selected Candidates Do Not Join
The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts several recruitment processes every year, including the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) exam. 20 to 30 lakh candidates participate in these recruitment exams. However, even after selection, up to 30 percent of the candidates do not join. In such cases, the SSC adds the vacant positions to the next year's recruitment.

What is the New SSC System?
To fill as many SSC recruitment positions as possible, the SSC is going to implement a new system. SSC Chairman S. Gopalakrishnan, in an interview with a daily newspaper, stated that the goal is to fill 90 to 95 percent of the positions under the new system. He explained that a trial will be conducted, under which a tentative list of candidates selected in the recruitment process will be released. He said that the candidates on the tentative list will be asked whether they accept the position or not.

Candidates Can Fix or Float Their Posts
The SSC Chairman explained that candidates on the tentative list will have the option to either "fix" or "float" their posts. Fixed seats will be filled directly, while those who choose to "float" will have to wait. The final merit list will be prepared based on this process. The vacant seats will allow other interested candidates to get a job.
