Admission to 2 DU Colleges Without CUET; Entry Based on Class 12 Marks

Under a special arrangement by Delhi University (DU), Bhagini Nivedita College and Aditi Mahavidyalaya are offering admission directly based on Class 12 marks. This decision has been taken to fill seats that have consistently remained vacant in these two colleges.

Delhi University has permitted two of its off-campus colleges to grant admission to undergraduate programs based on Class 12 marks for the 2026-27 academic session. Notably, this process will run alongside the regular admission procedures conducted via the CUET and CSAS systems. The university took this decision to fill the seats that have been consistently lying vacant in these colleges. However, DU has clarified that this is not a new admission policy; CUET and CSAS will remain the primary modes of undergraduate admission at the university. This permission has been granted solely in view of the specific circumstances faced by these two colleges.

Which colleges are offering admission based on Class 12 marks?

Under this special arrangement, Bhagini Nivedita College and Aditi Mahavidyalaya are accepting admissions directly based on Class 12 marks. Bhagini Nivedita College has asked students to download the application form from its website and submit it offline. The deadline for submitting applications is August 5. The merit list will be released on the same day, while the document verification and fee payment processes will be completed on August 7. Meanwhile, Aditi Mahavidyalaya has also invited direct applications; the merit list there will be released after the application process concludes.

Why has this decision been taken?

According to Delhi University, both colleges have been unable to fill all their seats for several years. Even after multiple rounds of CUET-based counseling, a large number of seats remain vacant. Last year, 709 out of the 985 sanctioned seats at Bhagini Nivedita College remained vacant, while at Aditi Mahavidyalaya, admissions could not be filled for approximately 600 out of the nearly 1,000 available seats. For this reason, both colleges had sought permission from the university to conduct admissions based on Class 12 marks.

What is the reason for the vacant seats?

The college administrations state that both institutions are located on the outskirts of the city; Bhagini Nivedita College is in Najafgarh, and Aditi Mahavidyalaya is in Bawana. Due to the lack of hostel facilities and adequate student amenities, many students leave the college even after securing admission. Aditi Mahavidyalaya notes that many female students from the surrounding rural areas do not even appear for the CUET exam. Consequently, despite scoring well in Class 12, they miss the opportunity for admission. The colleges claim they are receiving applications from students who scored over 90 percent marks.

Which courses are open for admission?

Bhagini Nivedita College has invited offline applications for several undergraduate programs, including B.Com, B.A., and B.Sc. Admission to these programs will be granted based on a merit list derived from Class 12 marks and seat availability. Meanwhile, Delhi University has clarified that this decision is a special permission granted only to these two colleges and should not be viewed as a change in DU's overall admission policy. Admissions to undergraduate programs in all other colleges will continue to be conducted via CUET scores and the CSAS process, as before.
