Aadhar Card Biometric Update: The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has urged schools across the country to update the Aadhaar cards of children between the ages of five and 15 on time. On Wednesday, UIDAI CEO Bhuvnesh Kumar wrote a letter to the Chief Secretaries of the states and union territories, urging them to complete the pending mandatory biometric updates by organizing camps in schools.

A release issued by the authority said, "UIDAI has joined hands with the Department of School Education and Literacy to make the mandatory biometric update (MBU) status related to Aadhaar of school children available on the Unified District Information System for Education Plus (UDISE+) application. This is a step that will facilitate mandatory biometric updates in Aadhaar for crores of students. "

17 crore Aadhaar cards not updated
UIDAI said that it is necessary to complete the Aadhaar biometric update on time for children at the age of five and then at the age of 15.

The work of mandatory biometric updating is pending in the case of about 17 crore Aadhaar numbers.

There will be difficulty in registration for examinations.

Not updating the biometric data of the child may later cause difficulties in getting benefits under various government schemes, verification for registration in competitive and university examinations like NEET, JEE, and CUET. The CEO of UIDAI has also informed all the Chief Secretaries of the states and union territories about this initiative and has sought their cooperation in organizing MBU camps.
