Aadhaar Card: The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has joined hands with the Department of School Education and Literacy to make the mandatory biometric updates status related to the Aadhar Card of school children available on the Unified District Information System for Education Plus (UDISE+) application. This move will make the facility of MBU available in Aadhaar for crores of students.

Biometrics not done in 17 crore Aadhaar.

Timely completion of biometric updates in Aadhaar cards for children aged 5 years and 15 years is a mandatory requirement. It is extremely important to maintain the accuracy and reliability of children's biometric data in Aadhaar. There are about 17 crore Aadhaar numbers for which a mandatory biometrics update is pending.

Aadhar Biometric Updates of Children will be done in Schools.

UIDAI CEO Shri Bhuvnesh Kumar has also written a letter to all the Chief Secretaries of the States and Union Territories apprising them of this initiative and has requested cooperation in organizing targeted MBU camps.

He said in his letter, "It was thought that organizing camps through schools could help in completing the pending MBUs. The main question was how schools would know which students have not updated their biometrics. The technical teams of UIDAI and the Department of School Education and Literacy, Government of India, have worked together to successfully implement a solution through the UDISE+ application. Now all schools can get information about pending MBUs."

 What is UDISE+
Integrated District Information System for Education Plus is an educational management information system under the Department of School Education and Literacy, and it collects various data related to school education. This joint initiative of UIDAI and the Department of School Education is expected to facilitate updating the biometrics of children.
