The Uttar Pradesh government has brought good news for young people who have exceeded the age limit for police recruitment. The state's Yogi government has decided to grant a 3-year age relaxation for the UP Police Constable and Jail Warder recruitment (UP Police Constable Vacancy 2026). This relaxation will apply equally to all categories. Previously, the maximum age for the general category was 22 years, which will now be directly increased to 25 years.
In addition, OBC, SC, ST, and female candidates have also been given a direct 3-year relaxation in the upper age limit. Besides this, candidates will also receive the benefit of age relaxation under reservation policies.

Relaxation due to COVID-19
This decision has been taken due to delays in recruitment caused by COVID-19. Since recruitment could not take place during the COVID-19 pandemic, many eligible young people had become overage and were thus excluded from this recruitment. Keeping them in mind, a direct 3-year relaxation in the maximum age limit has been provided to all categories.

Last date to apply for UP Police recruitment
The online application process for UP Police Constable recruitment 2026 started on December 31st and will continue until January 30th, 2026. The last date for fee adjustment is February 2nd.

Eligible candidates can apply online by visiting the official website uppbpb.gov.in. General, OBC, and EWS categories will have to pay a fee of Rs. 500, while the fee for SC/ST candidates is Rs. 400. The fee can be paid online.
