Delhi University Exam Cancelled: Saturday brought immense chaos and stress for thousands of students appearing for the Delhi University semester exams in 2025. Students arrived at the centers on time for the two-hour exam scheduled to begin at 9:30 AM, but were left waiting for hours. The distribution of question papers was severely disrupted. Question papers for more than 35 subjects arrived at the exam centers approximately 4 hours late. This delay created a chaotic situation at the examination centers.

Due to this serious negligence, exams could not begin in many colleges until the afternoon. This caused significant mental distress to the students. Finally, the university administration had to intervene. Despite rectifying the problem, 10 papers had to be canceled. This directly affected more than 100 students. This incident raises serious questions about Delhi University's examination system, where the academic process of lakhs of students was affected due to a minor administrative lapse.

Chaos at Examination Centers
Chaos erupted at examination centers during the Delhi University semester exams on Saturday. Students who arrived for the morning shift exam, scheduled to begin at 9:30 AM, faced immense difficulties. According to a Times of India report, more than 35 Discipline-Specific Elective (DSE) papers arrived at the centers approximately 4 hours late. As a result, the two-hour exam could not begin in many colleges until the afternoon. Approximately 1.4 lakh students were scheduled to appear for 800 different papers in this shift.

Reason for the Delay and Affected Subjects

This problem primarily affected 7th-semester undergraduate students, whose DSE papers experienced this major delivery lapse. According to university sources, the question papers could not be delivered to the examination centers on time, leading to this unprecedented delay. Although the university later rectified the problem and the papers were distributed, albeit late, this delay disrupted the entire examination process. Some exams were conducted with great difficulty, while at some centers, the chaos was so severe that the exams had to be canceled. 10 Exams Cancelled, Students Under Stress
After four hours of waiting and uncertainty, Delhi University issued a notification announcing the cancellation of exams for 10 papers. More than 100 students were directly affected by this cancellation. A science student from Miranda College, in her 7th semester, told the media that they were simply told to sit and wait. Frustrated by the situation, some students left, assuming the exams had been cancelled. Students say this administrative lapse will affect their mental health and academic performance.

University's Official Statement and Solution
Delhi University, in its official notification, acknowledged that due to "certain issues," some papers could not be dispatched on time. Consequently, they could not be conducted at some examination centers. However, the university also stated that the problem has been rectified. The university assured that these exams will be conducted by the second week of January 2026.  Furthermore, honors students appearing for three core subjects will be allowed to utilize a later examination slot.

However, DU students say that the administration should take strict measures to prevent such negligence in the future.
