A bright future awaits those who pursue an MBA; the expansion of the GCC will lead to an increase in job opportunities by 2030..
MBA Jobs: The expansion of Global Capability Centers (GCCs) in India is no longer confined to IT and technology. Through these centers, multinational corporations are now managing critical functions such as finance, marketing, human resources, business analytics, and supply chain management.
GCCs are hubs where multinational companies carry out various operations related to their international business, while also strengthening business strategy, innovation, and decision-making processes. Their growing presence in India has fueled demand for professionals who possess a strong grasp of business, alongside skills in data analysis, communication, and team management. According to the NASSCOM–Zinnov India GCC Landscape Report, there are 2,117 GCCs in India, employing approximately 2.36 million professionals. This sector generates revenue of nearly 98.4 billion US dollars.
Growing Demand Across Management Domains
The expanding scope of GCCs has created a wide range of career opportunities for management graduates—that is, MBA professionals. In finance, roles include budgeting, financial planning, and risk management, while human resources offers opportunities in talent acquisition, employee development, and the management of global teams. Meanwhile, in the fields of marketing and customer experience, roles involving market research, analysis of consumer behavior, and international marketing operations are becoming increasingly significant.
According to the 'GCC Plus' survey conducted by EY in November 2025, 79 percent of the surveyed centers reported handling finance-related functions, 65 percent managed human resources, 54 percent oversaw supply chain management, and 31 percent were involved in marketing operations. These figures indicate the presence of these functions, not their specific share of total employment.
Why is the demand for MBAs rising in GCCs?
From back-office operations to global leadership—the report indicates that GCCs are increasingly shifting toward large-scale product development and global ownership. This is projected to increase the number of global leadership roles within centers based in India from 6,500 to over 30,000 by 2030.
Forward-deployed and hybrid roles—Organizations are increasingly seeking talent such as Forward-Deployed Engineers (FDEs) and hybrid managers, who combine business acumen with technical or product fluency to drive AI and digital transformation.
Expansion of finance and strategy functions—The finance and operations wings of Global Capability Centers (GCCs) are moving beyond routine accounting; they are now leading enterprise-wide transformation, risk management, and compliance across more than 500 regulatory mandates.
Mid-career specialization—There has been a shift toward hiring mid-career professionals (with 4–10 years of experience) who possess both domain expertise and strong managerial insight.
Where are the job opportunities for MBA graduates?
The expansion of GCCs has created new employment opportunities across various management areas, including:
Finance and Accounting—Budgeting, financial planning, risk management, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations.
Human Resources—Talent acquisition, training, employee satisfaction, and managing teams that operate across different countries.
Marketing and Customer Experience—Market research, understanding customer preferences, brand-related initiatives, and international marketing activities.
