Recruitment is done by the Directorate of Enforcement for various Group (A, B, and C) posts. Group A posts are recruited on a deputation basis and include the posts of Special Director, Additional Director, Joint Director, Deputy Director, Assistant Director, etc. At the same time, some posts of Group B in ED are appointed by promotion, and for some, direct recruitment is organized. One of these is the post of Assistant Enforcement Officer (AEO) in Group B, for which the selection process is usually organized every year by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) for recruitment. At the same time, the recruitment process for Group C posts is organized by the Directorate from time to time as per the vacancies.

So, for the recruitment of Assistant Enforcement Officer in the Directorate of Enforcement, candidates have to appear in Combined Graduate Level Examination (CGLE) conducted every year by SAC. The declared vacancies of AEO are extracted through this examination. 83 posts were removed for the year 2021 exam, 114 posts for the year 2022, and 77 posts for the year 2019 exam. However, the vacancies for the CGL exam for the year 2022 are not yet announced. Candidates declared successful based on various stages are appointed as AEOs after training. After the stipulated period of service, AEOs are promoted to Enforcement Officer, Assistant Director, Deputy Director, Joint Director, Additional Director, and Special Director.

Educational Qualification and Age Limit for ED Officer Recruitment
In such a situation, aspirants to become Assistant Enforcement Officers in ED will have to appear in the CGL exam of SSC. To appear in this exam, candidates must have passed a graduation degree in any discipline from a recognized higher education institution. Also, the age of the candidates should not be less than 18 years and not more than 30 years for the post of AEO, while for some other posts the maximum age limit is 27 years. On the other hand, the upper age limit is relaxable for the candidates belonging to the reserved categories (SC, ST, OBC, etc.) as per the central government rules.

 Selection Process for Recruitment of ED Officer
The stages of examination to be conducted by SAC for various posts including Assistant Enforcement Officer in ED are Tier 1 Computer Based Test (CBT), Tier 2 Computer Based Test (CBT), Tier 3 Written Test (Descriptive Questions), and Tier 4 Computer Proficiency Test / Data Entry Skill Test (wherever applicable). Tier 1 is of one-hour duration and consists of questions of 25-25 multiple choice nature from the topics General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and English Comprehension. 2 marks are awarded for every correct answer, and 0.5 marks are deducted for every wrong answer.

Candidates declared successful based on performance in Tier 1 have to appear in Tier 2 CBT in the second stage. There are also questions of multiple choice nature which are from Quantitative Ability (100 Questions), English Language & Intelligence (200 Questions), Statistical (100 Questions), and General Studies (Finance & Economics - 100 Questions). The duration of the exam is 2 hours. There is also a negative marking in this stage which is 0.50/0.25 marks according to the paper.

Candidates declared successful in Tier 2 have to appear in Tier 3 written test which is of 1-hour duration. In this, candidates have to solve a descriptive paper in English or Hindi, in which an essay, abstract, letter, application form, etc. have to be written. Candidates declared successful in Tier 3 of the CGL exam have to appear in Computer Proficiency Test / Data Entry Speed ​​Test in Tier 4.
