8,956 candidates selected in CDS 2 exam; now the challenge of the SSB interview awaits..
The results for the CDS 2 examination, taken by candidates aspiring to become officers in the Army, have been released. The results for those who appeared for this examination are now available on the official UPSC website, upsc.gov.in. A total of 8,956 candidates have been selected for the next stage. These candidates must now undergo the SSB (Services Selection Board) interview—a process widely considered to be one of the most challenging. The written examination was conducted by the UPSC on September 13, 2026, and the results have now been declared.
How to check your result:
To check your result, visit the official UPSC website at upsc.gov.in.
Navigate to the 'Written Results' or 'Examination' section.
Click on the link for the 'CDS II 2026 Result PDF'.
Once the PDF opens, you can search for your name or roll number.
What is the next step?
The most significant challenge still lies ahead. Candidates must go through the SSB—a rigorous, five-day interview process—where they are evaluated comprehensively before the final results are declared. Candidates who selected the Army as their first preference must register on the 'Join Indian Army' website (joinindianarmy.nic.in) to receive information regarding their interview. Marksheets for the candidates will be made available on the website approximately 15 days after the final results for the SSB interview and the OTA (Officers Training Academy) course are announced.
Direct training at the IMA:
Successful candidates will undergo training directly at the Indian Military Academy (IMA) in Dehradun. Following intensive training at the IMA, they will have the opportunity to become officers in the Indian Army. Every year, hundreds of thousands of young people apply for this examination, yet only a select few earn the chance to reach the IMA. Those who pass this examination enter the Army as Lieutenants and subsequently advance to the rank of Captain.
