CBSE Board Class 10 Second Exam: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has commenced preparations for the Class 10 Board Second Exam. Recently, CBSE completed the process for the List of Candidates (LOC) for the Class 10 Board Second Exam. Subsequently, CBSE released the date sheet for the Class 10 Board Second Exam. Following this, CBSE shared details regarding the number of students appearing for the Class 10 Board Second Exam, indicating that 6.68 lakh students are set to take the CBSE Class 10 Second Exam.

When compared to the figures from the first CBSE Class 10 Board Exam, it is observed that 27 percent of the students who appeared for the first exam are now preparing to appear for the second exam. Let us explore this in greater detail.

6.68 Lakh Students to Take CBSE Class 10 Second Exam
A total of 6,68,854 students have registered for the CBSE Class 10 Second Exam. Of these, 85,285 students have registered for the Compartment Exam, and 5,25,655 students have registered for the Improvement Exam. Additionally, 57,914 students have registered for both categories. Among these candidates, 9,765 are private candidates. Furthermore, the total count comprises 2,66,209 boys and 4,02,643 girls.

24,71,777 Students Appeared for the First Class 10 Exam
CBSE conducted the first Class 10 Board Exam from February 17 to March 10, and the results were declared on April 15. A total of 24,83,479 students had registered for the first CBSE Class 10 Board Exam. Out of these, 24,71,777 students appeared for the first exam, and 23,16,008 students passed. The overall pass percentage stood at 93.70%.

**Students Can Appear for a Second Exam in Three Subjects**

Under the NEP 2020 framework, the CBSE has released the complete schedule for the Class 10 Board Second Examination. This second examination is scheduled to be held from May 15 to May 21, 2026. Meanwhile, students who passed the first Class 10 Board examination are eligible to appear for the second examination to improve their scores in any three subjects chosen from Science, Mathematics, Social Science, and Languages. Students with compartment status will also be granted a second opportunity. Furthermore, between the two Class 10 examinations, the higher scores obtained by a student will be the ones recorded in the final marksheet.

**Highest Number of Students to Appear for Science and Standard Mathematics Exams**

In the CBSE Class 10 Board Second Examination, the highest number of students is expected to appear for the Science and Standard Mathematics papers. Specifically, 474,491 students will take the Science examination. Similarly, 368,843 students will participate in the Standard Mathematics second examination. Additionally, 98,536 students will appear for English Language and Literature, and 178,878 students will take the second examination for Basic Mathematics.

**Results for the Second Board Examination Expected by the End of June**

The CBSE has announced that the results for the Class 10 Second Examination are expected to be released by the end of June. The results for the first examination are currently available on DigiLocker, and students may proceed with their admission into Class 11. The final certificate will be issued only after the results of the second examination have been declared.
