3.5 million candidates will take the UP PET 2026; exam centers will be monitored via CCTV, and the exams begin on October 25..
Preparations for the Preliminary Eligibility Test (PET) 2026—aimed at youth in Uttar Pradesh aspiring for government jobs—have intensified. The Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC), which conducts this examination, will implement stringent measures to prevent cheating. At the examination centers, there will be rigorous screening for mobile phones, Bluetooth devices, and even eyewear equipped with Artificial Intelligence (AI). State Chief Secretary SP Goyal has directed officials to ensure the examination is conducted in a fair and transparent manner. More than 3.5 million (35 lakh) candidates are expected to appear for the test.
1,372 Examination Centers Established Across 60 Districts
The UP PET 2026 is scheduled to be held on October 25, October 30, and November 1. The examination will take place in two shifts across 1,372 centers established in 60 districts of the state. A total of 3,541,297 candidates are set to participate. Given the large number of examinees, the administration has been instructed to complete all security and logistical arrangements well in advance.
Monitoring via CCTV Cameras
During a weekly review meeting held via video conferencing on Wednesday, Chief Secretary SP Goyal assessed the preparations for the examination. He instructed District Magistrates to ensure that all necessary arrangements are completed on time. Directives have been issued to maintain continuous surveillance using CCTV cameras installed at both the examination centers and the treasuries (where question papers are stored). Furthermore, emphasis has been placed on providing prior training to the staff assigned to examination duties to ensure a smooth process without any complications.
Security Arrangements at Railway Stations and Bus Terminals
Due to the increased movement of candidates during the examination days, special arrangements will be made at railway stations, bus terminals, major roads, and in the vicinity of the examination centers. The administration has been tasked with managing traffic and controlling crowds. Additionally, help desks will be set up, as needed, to assist female candidates. Meanwhile, instructions have also been issued to set up holding areas for candidates arriving from other districts.
