23 lakh students, 75 thousand schools, and a war room… Know what is Parakh National Survey 2024 is?

The Parakh National Survey 2024 will be conducted on 4 December. It is a nationwide school education survey, in which the educational level of the students will be examined on the basis of examination. The Parakh National Survey was earlier known as the National Achievement Survey (NAS). This survey is conducted once every three years.

A nationwide school education survey is going to be conducted on 4 December by the National Assessment Body of the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) under the Union Ministry of Education, named Parakh National Survey 2024. It was earlier known as the National Achievement Survey (NAS), which is conducted every three years. The last time the National Achievement Survey was conducted was in 2017-2021. This survey is designed to evaluate and monitor the progress of India's school education system over time.

According to media reports, Professor Indrani Bhaduri, head and CEO of Parakh National Survey, said that this year more than 75 thousand schools and more than 22 lakh 94 thousand students from 782 districts will participate in it. She said that this is the first time that a 24×7 war room has been set up at the NCERT headquarters to monitor the progress of the survey and answer questions from across the district. This war room has gone live from November 27 and will remain operational till December 5.

The team will work 24 hours in the war room

Professor Bhaduri said that the team in the war room will work round the clock in different shifts. In the night shift, two people will help field investigators and others resolve questions related to movement of material and people. Its purpose is to resolve any question coming from any area as soon as possible so that the survey work can be completed well.

What will be in the survey?

In this survey, a test will be taken of the students, which will check their educational level. For this, question papers have been prepared for the students, while a questionnaire has been prepared for the teachers and school administration. Its objective is to assess the knowledge of students in major subjects, compare their performance on the basis of gender, place and socio-economic groups, explain the learning differences based on the National Curriculum Framework (NCF-2023), identify factors affecting learning ability, as well as allocate resources and shape policies for the future.

Students of class 3, 6 and 9 will participate

Under this survey, students of class 3, 6 and 9 will be tested in three subjects during the examination. Students of class 3 and 6 will have a one and a half hour exam in Hindi, Maths and Environment, while students of class 9 will have a 2-hour exam in any three subjects out of Hindi, Maths, Science and Social Science. This exam will be for a total of 45 marks in class 3 and 6 and a total of 60 marks in class 9.
