183 MBBS-BDS Seats Added in NEET UG Counseling; Check State-wise List

The NMC has added 183 MBBS and BDS seats while releasing the seat matrix for Round 3. These seats have been increased in institutions across Maharashtra, Puducherry, Tripura, Uttarakhand, and Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu.

The number of seats available for admission to medical and dental colleges has been increased again for Round 3 of the NEET UG counseling. The Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) has added 183 MBBS and BDS seats while releasing the Round 3 seat matrix. These seats have been added in institutions across Maharashtra, Puducherry, Tripura, Uttarakhand, and Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu. Additionally, the seat matrix includes both ‘clear’ and ‘virtual’ vacancies, enabling candidates to know the available seats during the choice-filling process.

Highest Increase in New Seats in Maharashtra

Maharashtra has seen the highest increase in new seats, with a total of 115 seats added across one medical college and one dental college. Fifteen new MBBS seats have been added at Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar Government Medical College, Ahilyanagar (Maharashtra). These seats fall under the All India Quota and comprise 4 BC, 1 EWS, 7 OP (Open), 2 SC, and 1 ST seat. Furthermore, 100 BDS seats have been added at Datta Meghe Dental College, Hospital and Research Centre, Wanadongri, Nagpur. These fall under the Deemed University’s self-financed merit seat quota, and all 100 seats are allocated to the OP category.

50 Seats Added in Puducherry

Following Maharashtra, Puducherry has seen an increase of 50 MBBS seats. Fifty new MBBS seats have been added at Vinayaka Mission’s Medical College, Karaikal. This institution falls under the Deemed University category, and the seats are available in the OP category under the self-financed merit seat quota.

Seat Increases in Tripura and Uttarakhand Too

Following Maharashtra and Puducherry, additional seats have been allocated to Tripura, Uttarakhand, and Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu. Specifically, 8 new MBBS seats have been added at Agartala Government Medical College, Tripura; this includes 2 seats for BC, 1 for EWS, 3 for OP (Open/General), 1 for SC, and 1 for ST. Meanwhile, 7 MBBS seats have been increased at Late Jagjivan Ram Government Medical College, Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand, comprising 2 seats for BC, 1 for EWS, 2 for OP, 1 for OP-PH (Open-Physically Handicapped), and 1 for SC. Additionally, 3 new MBBS seats have been added at NaMo Medical Education and Research Institute (Government Medical College), Silvassa, with one seat each allocated to BC, OP, and SC categories.

Vacant Seats for Round 3

The seat matrix for Round 3 shows a total of 6,703 clear vacancies and 10,353 virtual vacancies. The clear vacancies in government medical colleges include 896 seats for General (OP), 502 for OBC, 354 for SC, 191 for EWS, and 138 for ST. In AIIMS and Central Universities, there are 67 General, 37 OBC, 25 SC, 9 ST, and 4 EWS seats available. Deemed universities have 2,185 seats under the self-finance quota and 1,209 seats under the NRI quota. There are 42 seats in the Jain Minority quota. For BDS, government dental colleges have clear vacancies of 105 General, 49 SC, 48 OBC, 21 ST, and 9 EWS seats, while 253 BDS seats are available in deemed universities.

Round 3 Results to be Declared on September 30

The registration and fee payment process for Round 3 of the NEET-UG counseling will take place from September 22 to September 27. Choice filling and locking will take place from September 23 to 28. The seat allotment process will be conducted on September 28 and 29, while the Round 3 allotment results will be released on September 30. Candidates allotted seats must report to the respective institutes between October 1 and 9.
